果蔬识成长 童心懂母爱
上海金山杭州湾双语学校母亲节主题班会圆满开展五月芳菲，母爱绵长。母亲节前夕，上海金山杭州湾双语学校二年级的孩子们迎来了一场别样的主题班会。以绘本《你在妈妈肚子里的时候》为引，各班老师带着孩子们走进生命最初的模样，在看得见、摸得着、亲身体验的活动中，感受成长的分量，也用最童真的方式，向妈妈道一声“谢谢”。
活动的尾声，孩子们轻轻蜷起身体，安静地模仿宝宝在妈妈肚子里的样子。小小的身子依偎在果蔬旁，仿佛真的回到了生命最初的那段时光：从一颗蓝莓，长成樱桃、草莓，一天天变大，直到成为眼前这个活泼可爱的男孩、女孩。生命从无到有的奇妙，母亲日复一日的守护，在这一刻静静流淌。不少家长看到照片后，眼眶悄悄红了。
除了感悟成长与感恩母爱，班会还特别安排了爱心手工环节。孩子们拿起画笔，一笔一画认真描绘，把对妈妈的爱与祝福，涂成色彩斑斓的画。老师细心地将每一幅画塑封、装订，做成独一无二的手工挂饰——小小的礼物，沉甸甸的心意。这一堂课，没有一句“妈妈很辛苦”的说教，却让孩子们用身体去体验、用双手去创造、用心灵去感受：原来我，曾经那么小、那么轻，是妈妈一天一天，温柔地养大的。

Understanding Growth with Fruits & Vegetables, Feeling Mother’s Love with Innocent Hearts
——Grade 2 Mother’s Day Themed Class Meeting Successfully Held at Shanghai Jinshan Hangzhou Bay Bilingual School
Fragrant blooms fill the air in May, and a mother’s love stretches endlessly. On the eve of Mother’s Day, second-grade students at Shanghai Jinshan Hangzhou Bay Bilingual School enjoyed a special themed class meeting.
Guided by the picture book When You Were in Mommy’s Tummy, teachers led the children to explore the very beginning of life. Through visual, tactile and immersive hands-on activities, the kids came to understand the weight of growth and expressed their sincere "thank you" to mothers in the most childlike way.
In class, teachers started with the picture book, taking the children back to the starting point of life’s journey. To help them truly visualize how a baby grows inside a mother’s womb, the classes prepared an array of fruits and vegetables: blueberries, cherries, strawberries, lemons, oranges, cabbages, Chinese cabbages and watermelons. Ranging from tiny blueberries to heavy watermelons, they symbolized the growth of a fetus from its earliest stage to full term. The children weighed, compared and observed them by themselves. As they felt the change from light to heavy, small to large, the wondrous journey of life unfolded right in their hands. At that moment, they began to comprehend how profound and precious a mother’s ten months of gentle carrying truly is.
At the end of the activity, the children curled up gently, quietly imitating how a baby lies in its mother’s womb. Nestled beside the fruits and vegetables, these little ones seemed to travel back to the dawn of life: growing from a tiny blueberry into a cherry, then a strawberry, gradually getting bigger day by day, until they became the lively lovely boys and girls they are today. The miracle of life emerging from nothingness and a mother’s unceasing care flowed quietly in this moment. Many parents’ eyes turned misty upon seeing the photos.
Beyond reflecting on growth and giving thanks for maternal love, the class meeting also featured a heartfelt handicraft session. The children picked up paintbrushes and painted earnestly stroke by stroke, pouring their love and blessings for their mothers into colorful artwork. Teachers carefully laminated and bound each painting into one-of-a-kind handmade ornaments—small gifts filled with deep affection.
This lesson contained no rigid lectures about "how hard mothers work". Instead, it let children experience with their bodies, create with their hands, and perceive with their hearts: they once were tiny and light, raised tenderly by their mothers day after day.
This Mother’s Day themed activity subtly integrated life education, gratitude education and handicraft creation. Immersive experiences awakened gratitude deep in children’s hearts, while handmade gifts conveyed the purest love. Many parents were deeply moved when they saw the activity photos and received the ornaments their children made, calling them an extraordinarily precious, heartwarming and unforgettable holiday gift.
